Package Coalition Statement on House Oversight Committee Postal Hearing

Washington, D.C. - The following is a statement from Package Coalition Chairman, Secretary John McHugh, following today’s U.S. House Oversight Committee Hearing:

“Facing record breaking package volumes during the holiday season, the U.S. Postal Service continued to deliver packages to every address in America in the midst of a global pandemic. Some private carriers, on the other hand, ran away from this challenge -- refusing delivery for businesses and imposing surcharges on Americans simply trying to get packages to their loved ones. This holiday season proves that the Postal Service is essential to guaranteeing dependability, affordability and competition for package delivery.

“The Package Coalition remains committed to working with policymakers and the Postal Service to efficiently maintain its essential mail and package delivery services.”
